May 16: New Moon 1:00 pm PDT (26º Taurus)
Pause. Pay attention.
In the quiet, what images come to you? Listen for sounds, color, vibration. Tend to the instrument and vibration of your body and heart. Allow grief — and anything unwanted — to rise to the surface.
This is a time of significant invitation: stillness, allowing, surrender. Trust that which emerges. If a song touches you, stay there. Let the tears come and water the earth of your life.
This New Moon and lunar cycle conjunct Ceres in Taurus, occurring at 1 pm PDT on May 16th and reflecting the themes and energetic terrain leading to the Full Moon in Sagittarius on May 31st, illuminates a vision of our future if we are willing to look. The broader lunar cycle continues through the next New Moon in Gemini on June 14th.
Now is a time when we can take the practical steps needed to seed our paths forward. Less is more. What is sustainable and trustworthy? We are invited to take risks in the spirit of authentic resourcefulness and beauty.
Taurus, the first Earth sign in the zodiac, represents our connection to the physical, the body, the sensual, our resources, grounding, and nature. Taurus embodies the sacred through the material world and teaches us to trust ourselves and hold our seat in our lives and upon this earth.
What insights are you having about your path forward? What changes are essential to ensure sustainability and the unfolding of your most sacred path? What is most important to you?
The Moon’s conjunction with Ceres highlights this lunar cycle’s connection to the Roman goddess of agriculture and fertility (Demeter), whose myth carries the sacred bond between mother, daughter, body, earth, grief, and renewal — and what occurs when our instinctual relationship to the feminine and the natural world is disrupted or severed.
What do we need to nurture on a soul level? On a practical level? In our relationships?
Practice ritual, generosity, and offering. Attune to the wisdom of nature and the feminine. You don’t need to know.
This New Moon brings that which is vulnerable, and which we might hold back in ourselves, into the light — showing us where trust, surrender, and confidence in the natural unfolding of our lives is invited, celebrated, and accommodated one little step at a time.
Trust instincts, body, sound, light, impression — that which operates intuitively, imaginatively, and quietly guides unfolding beneath the level of our fixed identities, thoughts, and certainty. Touch in simply and gently to taste release and renewal.
Trust pause. Imagine. Vision will naturally arise.
Pause. Notice where we seek nourishment outside ourselves and look instead to the deep roots and cosmos of our being beneath — and expanding beyond — the surface of the earth, in embrace with sky.
This New Moon, do something extra luxurious to explore and inhabit sensation, body, and silence.
The connection of Mercury and Uranus will usher in new insights and practical solutions for the next steps, long-term visions, and necessary changes. Take the opportunity to communicate, establish new boundaries, and share desires in relationship. We can take leaps forward now toward establishing secure and nourishing bonds in alignment with our genuine paths.
Anything that begins or is attended to now arises in response to the deep needs of physical reality, particularly in connection with what we need to seed, grow, and commit or recommit to. Notice where spontaneity flashes new depth or information.
We must learn how to give and receive nourishment — while respecting the individuality and authenticity of the other and ourselves.
This New Moon asks us to simplify and be real about our next steps.
I have a special interest in the conjunction of Mars and Chiron in Aries, which indicates that this New Moon might be anything but comfortable, in spite of Taurean sensuality and the invitation to experience the bliss of true presence.
This alignment occurred in Aries on May 29, 2024, June 15, 2022, and June 14, 2020. Take note of any themes which may connect to the present, particularly in connection with healing our relationship with the masculine, bravery, our warrior-like energy in service of good, and personal empowerment.
How can we trust ourselves now?
We don’t have to know who we are. Chiron in Aries invites us to pay attention to the spark of life, while the Moon reminds us that it can be accessed most simply through instinct, aliveness, intuition, sensation, and presence.
What begs us to awaken and expand our sense of what’s possible for ourselves further?
Look squarely at any repetition not with judgment, but instead with accommodation, softness, nurturing, and surrender.
Anything that invites another confrontation is still needing deeper nurturing, care, and likely, stillness.
With Venus in Gemini, all of this will be translated into ideas, solutions, and hopefully, a sense of humor. Delight in the process and welcome anything unwanted into the deep presence of this cycle.
On May 18th, Mars enters Taurus and Venus enters Cancer, softening our experience and stabilizing the path forward — if we allow it.
On May 22nd, the Sun conjuncts Uranus, highlighting that things will continue to transform and change.
Trusting in the earth — and the earth of our own beings — deeply embracing feminine creativity and nurturing may be the most magnetic and fortunate way forward.
