Algae cyanotype by Anna Atkins, 1843 (thought to be the the very first book illustrated with photographic images) via @publicdomainrev // On the eve of the New Moon Solar Eclipse in Capricorn (PST), I am bedazzled by the astrological sky. It is the seedling of a new era in our personal and collective lives. The New Moon coincides with a Solar eclipse, which marks the closing of a 19 year cycle. For two weeks after this New Moon the eclipse portal is open (through Jan 10th) while five planets and the Lunar South Node are in Capricorn. The stunning Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto Capricorn rendezvous (occurring every 735 years!) will remain through much of 2020.

In other words, what are we building and what of our past are we truly allowing to rest. If we dance with skeletons, it is time to recognize the incredible preciousness of life. We must forgive what is past and aspire for the self-mastery and solitude of a yogi inhabiting a distant snow peak. This state of consciousness is one that realizes its interconnectedness with others and a cosmically linked collective. We need watch for where we are drawn to the status quo, where conventional or group values become our rewards. Capricorn consciousness, as Rudhyar emphasizes, contains the “a living seed” which need not be controlled by some great system of power or tribe, which would mirror for it the achievement of a greater self and wisdom that it seeks. This life consciousness has assimilated society, contact with others and group, and is dedicated to its capacity to witness, integrate, and create.

In less esoteric terms, what will we contribute? We have the power of choice and self-determination. We must take our seats with consciousness and determine steps forward. With everything occurring, this delicate cyanotype is a reminder of the profound gentleness that we need as we face our deepest past and bring consciousness to our present. Forgiveness, however difficult, may be the highest route, that we may reach the seed of heart. How may we be of help? How first to ourselves? Stay. Stay with the assimilation of mysterious time. In the shifting sand, can we rest? May each algae fiber of time begin again anew.
