“In this world, there are things you can only do alone, and things you can only do with somebody else. It’s important to combine the two in just the right amount.” – Haruki Murakami
The New Moon in Libra forms on October 8th at 8:47 PM PDT closely conjunct Ceres, the earth mother goddess. During this lunar period, pay special attention to nurturing harmony in your relationships, and stay conscious that intense energies from an ancient cellular unconscious are here and seek integration. To do this, we will need to celebrate and respect the spirit of Libra. Nourish the gentleness and vulnerability in yourself and others. Uplift and beautify your living spaces. Discover ways to connect with the equanimity and spaciousness intrinsic to your mind and heart. Draw on inspiration, such as Monet’s water lilies, friendship, fresh perspective, and the wisdom to tolerate paradox. Seek fairness and justice as you relate to those close to you and know that we are doing the difficult work of healing our hearts this month, so Libra’s connection to balance and fairness is important. As we are empowering deep shifts this lunar period, bring consciousness to every day combined with an aspiration to be of benefit to this earth and all beings.
As the New Moon forms with Ceres, the earth mother goddess, we are connected on a deep level with our desire to nurture and receive nourishment. Wherever we may experience obstacles to doing so we may experience grief, resentment, and outrage or anger. Ceres’ myth centers around the abduction of her daughter Persephone by Hades/Pluto, so the grief and outrage we are witnessing on a collective level in response to the disempowerment and abuse of the feminine is a part of her story. Ultimately, she can guide us to our innate ability to give and receive nourishment, but along the way we will undoubtedly experience her wrath or the resentment and controlling-ness that are a part of her shadow.
In the spirit of Libra, we must bring consciousness and gentle respect to all sides of every story, including to those who disappoint and hurt us. Libra reminds us to nurture tolerance, fairness, justice, and intrinsic harmony despite any tumult on personal or collective levels. Look out for how Ceres is showing up for you on a personal level. What aspect of your relationships need nourishment and perspective? Where can your ability to tolerate paradox support harmony and where might inattentiveness and evasion be blinding you to what you or your loved ones really need?
While we are relating to our hearts and relationships this month (Venus is also retrograde in Scorpio), we can by doing our personal work help to shift the paradigms that define our world. The more we can open our hearts to Ceres’ grief, we will learn to give and receive nourishment and blessing. I will also mention that Uranus shows up this month as an essential guide and potential distraction. Stay open to unexpected knowledge, insight, and change that is unburdened by grief, or anything related to the past. Our individual perspective and insight will ultimately be what presses forward our vision and path. Cut through the tendency to manipulate victimization (we are seeing this everywhere right now). Instead, let these low level patterns fall flat while Uranus and Chiron in Pisces guide our deeper spiritual healing and soulful connection with spirit and vision. The North Node in Leo asks we perform our unique light and expression, let the unexpected be your guide.
VENUS RETROGRADE ☠️//
Venus shifts retrograde October 5th at 11 degrees Scorpio through November 15th when she turns direct at 25 degrees Libra. As the mythic goddess of love and beauty traverses backwards the instinctual, desirous, and regenerative Scorpio, and her own sign, Libra, she’ll press we relate with whatever is unresolved in our heart, relationships, and love. We can lean into true friendship with the shadows reflecting on the wall. We can be fair with others. What barriers arise around heart; what do you face over and over in relationships and love? She needs to feel into everything, so that she can arise in this present moment, beautifully. Where we resist hurt, shadowy corners, resentments, and chaos, we contrive walls. She beckons us dive within and emerge transformed. She is healing our love and relationships, to bring our lives into balance and harmony. Not harmony at the expense of truth. We need to be relentless to stay open to whatever darkness or unconscious patterns she may expose. In this way, we discover choice, wisdom, and light. We can supplicate release, forgiveness, and blessing. She will listen. Pay attention to what needs to be released. We can experiment shifting our attention to consciousness and the present to support letting go. We can accept and surrender. Relationships may shift as we allow transformation. Take the high road by staying intimate with you, (despite any hurts), fair with others, and trusting in wisdom.
The full moon in Libra peaks at 5:37 am PDT, Saturday, March 31st. In a strong T-square with Saturn in Capricorn, the Aries-Libra-Sun-Moon axis, is tethered to ground, responsibility, and soul lessons. Whatever inarguable reality you face now, provides toughness, energy, and ancient knowledge about what you need to learn. Ask within. We need tune to our real needs and find play, joy, and gentleness in the apparent structure of this learning process. We can be mindful of any tendency towards harshness, criticism, or guilt. The challenges of the month can be embraced as we release what does not belong to us, and offer all to wisdom awareness. We will likely dedicate ourselves to our responsibilities, and we can also awaken to our lives as continual teaching. We might notice ambitions we hold that do not resonate deeply, or that we carry the burdens of communities on our shoulders. The full moon asks we give away what does not belong to us, that we can be who we are, truly, in connection with those we love, and all beings. It teaches us that we are always individuals at the same time that we are in relationship. The dancing dream of connection and separation yearns to be seen. We can at once honor deep longing for union and embrace inevitable individuality. The play of self and other, independence and collaboration, invites us to shed this drama and glow in the knowledge of truth in paradox. We are not one or the other, polarity seems essential. When we react we often lean into an extreme of the axis. Do we seek confirmation through others or isolate in insensitivity? Let us bring awareness to these connected patterns so that we can taste true harmony and authenticity of being. This month brings intensity at the same time that we are called to bask in awareness, positive pride, and light. As we tune to the invitation of soul work, we radiate the sun.
